CarouselWe’re delighted that our public realm design for Mansfield Market Place received unanimous approval at Planning Committee last week! 🎉 Working in line with the Mansfield Masterplan, the proposals will transform the heart of Mansfield town centre by creating a vibrant, flexible and welcoming public space that continues to support the town’s historic market, while creating opportunities for future events and community activities. 🌳🏙️ The scheme includes: -A reimagined market square with high-quality stone paving -New tree planting and rain gardens creating a town garden to the west of the square -New seating, street furniture, interpretation and incidental urban play features -The retention of the Bentinck Monument at the heart of the square, enhanced with seating, planting, lighting and interpretation -The decommissioning of the disused fountains outside the Old Town Hall and the introduction of a new water feature within the garden area We’re incredibly proud to be part of a fantastic collaborative team helping to shape a greener, more sustainable and people-focused future for Mansfield town centre. Post| Thoughtful landscape design and planting | 👩💻 🌳 🌷 Our Principal Landscape Architect, @lbgardendesign has shared an observation from a recent visit to Newcastle that perfectly illustrates the value of thoughtful landscape design and planting. Even the simplest green spaces can have a lasting impact on how people experience our towns and cities. "Whilst I was in Newcastle for my son's graduation, I found myself walking along the iconic Grey Street when I came across a simple pop-up park. "With a handful of planters, benches and an area of artificial grass, it wasn't an elaborate installation, but it was full of people taking the opportunity to pause, sit and enjoy the space. It was a great reminder of the impact that even small pockets of greenery can have in our urban environments, softening the grandeur of the surrounding Georgian architecture and creating somewhere people genuinely want to spend time. "As a Landscape Architect, I have the privilege of thinking about how planting and thoughtful design can transform outdoor spaces into places that are functional, attractive and memorable. Plants are one of the most dynamic elements of any landscape. They bring colour, texture and seasonal interest, ensuring a space continues to evolve and improve over time. "A well-considered planting plan does so much more than look good. It helps establish identity, encourages people to use and enjoy a space, supports biodiversity, improves environmental performance and contributes to health and wellbeing. "This small pop-up park was a simple but powerful example of how much people value green space." 💚 At Influence, we understand the role that planting and landscape design play in creating successful places. Carousel| Nottingham Mill with @forumforthebuiltenviroment (fbe) | 🍞 This morning, Principal Landscape Architect @lbgardendesign had the pleasure of joining fbe for a fascinating behind-the-scenes visit to one of Nottingham's hidden gems – The Nottingham Mill at Sneinton Market. The morning included a tour, where she learned about the incredible work being done to champion local food sustainability, regeneration, and environmentally responsible practices. Leonie also enjoyed breakfast while networking with fellow professionals from across the built environment. 🙏 Thank you to Diana Hawkins at @pickeverard and the entire fbe committee for organising such an insightful event. PostWe're proud to see our Managing Director Sara Boland continue to support the next generation of designers through her role on the Professional Advisory Board for the Lincoln School of Design and Architecture at the @unilincoln - a position she has held for the past five years. The Board brings together academic staff and industry professionals to discuss research, field trips, course development, accreditations and the ongoing progress of the School. PostA big welcome to Leon Oglesby, who’s joined the Influence team this week for his work experience! 👋 Leon is currently studying Geography, Citizenship (Law & Politics), Business and Drama at The Suthers School in Newark. PostIt was a trip down memory lane for Jake this week as he returned to The Joseph Whitaker School to attend their annual Careers Fair! 🎓 Representing Influence Landscape Planning and Design, Jake spoke with students about the exciting opportunities within landscape architecture, planning and the wider built environment, sharing his own journey from sitting in those very classrooms to building a career in the industry. 🌿 It was fantastic to see so many students engaged, asking thoughtful questions and exploring their future career options. CarouselTeam away day 2026 ✨ A fantastic day spent exploring, learning, creating and catching up as a team! 💚 Our first stop was Sandilands, where we had the opportunity to see the realisation of our design for the @nationaltrust Nature Reserve. It was incredibly rewarding to experience the project on the ground and see the landscape evolving. A huge thank you to Nicola Craven for guiding us through the first section of the site and sharing valuable insights into the reserve. 🌾 A big thank you as well to @thevista.boatshed for providing delicious picnic lunches and for keeping us fuelled with excellent coffee. ☕️ In the afternoon, we swapped walking boots for willow weaving at @alfordcraftmarket – a brilliant opportunity to get creative and try something new. We rounded off a fantastic day together with a delicious dinner at @restaurant_auction_house, Louth. 🍽️ Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success.
