Carousel| Spring team away day - Bread making at Tuxford Mill 🍞 | Yesterday, our team swapped drawings and deadlines for dough and dustings of flour during a brilliant away day at Tuxford Mill in Nottinghamshire. Hosted by @ilikeit_bakery we spent the day learning the art of bread making - and discovering that landscape architects can be surprisingly competitive when it comes to shaping the perfect loaf! Over the course of the day, we made four different bakes: 🥖 Baguettes 🍞 Rustic loaves 🌾 Rye bread 🍥 Cinnamon swirls It was a fantastic opportunity to step away from the office, learn some new skills, and spend time together in a relaxed but creative setting. From kneading techniques to proving times, we all came away with a new appreciation for the craft - and a lot of baked goods to take home! 🤤 A big well done to Star Baker of the Day Kathryn Dunk, and many thanks to Steve at I Like It Bakery for such an informative and enjoyable day. PostLast night Sara Boland had the pleasure of attending the Team Lincolnshire @ukreiif launch event - hearing all about the plans for Greater Lincolnshire at the real estate and investment forum later this month. We are proud to be ambassadors of Team Lincolnshire and for Sara to be on the steering committee. We look forward to supporting them and Invest Lincolnshire at UKREiiF. A highlight of the evening was Team Lincolnshire announcing that @naomisgardencharity is its charity of the year, a cause very close to our hearts. Sara has been a driving force, alongside charity director and lead conductor Sarah-Jayne Walker, to enable the charity to move forward with major transformation works to get its new building ready to be a centre that can support more families with more therapies. It's fantastic that Team Lincolnshire has chosen to support Naomi's Garden - thank you Tony Reynolds and Jo Andrews - and that ambassadors can choose to provide services, materials or time towards the renovation project. During last nights event Sara and Sarah introduced the charity and the project to the room. Post| Project award win! 🍍 🏆 | Influence Landscape Planning and Design is proud to have been the landscape architect supporting Newark and Sherwood District Council, @lovell_homes and @compendiumliving for the last six years on the regeneration proposals for Yorke Drive, Newark on Trent. This project has been awarded 'Winner of the Community Engagement: Homes' category at the 2026 Pineapples Awards. Carousel| Paragraph 84 house in Melton | 🏡 So pleased to have supported a fantastic team in securing planning permission for a Paragraph 84 house in Redmile, Melton. We delivered landscape design and a Landscape Visual Appraisal (LVA) for a site with extant permission (approved 2021). The self-build dwelling, set within a private nature reserve, draws on local earth berms and the grid of historic Nissan huts, shaping both the building and landscape approach. Three distinct yet aligned areas were created, which work with the building façade and the site: ⏺️ Private garden – tighter grid with rich planting, colour and depth ⏺️ Entrance courtyard – clean, contemporary arrival space ⏺️ Nature reserve – transitioning from structured reedbeds to naturalistic habitats ⏺️ Earth mounding—reflecting the surrounding landscape—helps form wetlands, water bodies and a more natural setting across the site. Carousel| Vision Impairment Awareness | Today the team met volunteers from Sight Loss Councils part of Thomas Pocklington Trust - organisations which work to ensure blind and partially sighted people have the same key life chances as anyone. Following a presentation, the team went on a simulation walk wearing sight limiting eyewear, to better understand the impact of visual impairment. Post| Millgate Conservation Society, Newark | Influence has had a presence in Huddlestones Wharf by the river in Newark since we founded in 2008. Our studio sits at the heart of the Millgate Conservation area, and this historic part of Newark is important to us - we recently set up Newark Creative Quarter within it to further drive people and investment to the area. Kathryn Dunk and Lindsey Arkley were honoured to be asked to give a talk to the Millage Conservation Society (MCS) last week. The Society serves the interests of residents living in Millgate and surrounds and it organises regular talks and discussions in Newark Library. Kathryn and Lindsey's discussion concentrated on the ways that landscape design can respond to heritage settings; how an understanding of the often-hidden history of a site can provide clues in the development of our designs. Using a variety of case-studies they described how an understanding of the people and activities that previously occupied a site or surrounding area could add a degree of humanity to landscape designs and form a framework for the new spaces and places in our environment. Examples of this include a town garden, influenced by the rich history of a site, and previous project of our @intbcc - an iconic focal point on the Lincolnshire skyline. #landscapearchitecture #landscapedesign #millgateconservation #newarkontrent #heritagelandscape
