The project
Skegness Public Realm & Wayfinding Strategy: Building Pride in Place Through Landscape Design, Heritage and Connectivity
The Skegness Public Realm and Wayfinding project establishes a comprehensive vision and delivery framework to regenerate the town centre, placing heritage, identity and community at its core. Developed as part of the Town Deal programme, the brief required the creation of a masterplan, branding strategy and coordinated wayfinding approach, supported by costed, deliverable interventions.
Influence led the development of a Vision Masterplan structured around eight character areas, balancing conservation, enhancement and new interventions across the town’s key assets, including Tower Gardens and the seafront. The strategy integrates short, medium and long-term projects, from early demonstration schemes such as parklets, trails and public realm upgrades, through to larger-scale transformational works.
Underpinned by the town’s Plan for Neighbourhoods community engagement and heritage-led design, the project provides a clear, phased roadmap for investment, supporting funding bids and enabling Skegness to evolve into a more cohesive, accessible and year-round destination.
