Poacher’s Patch, Lincoln City FC: Transforming an Unused Space into a Community Asset for Learning, Wellbeing and Nature
Poacher’s Patch is a community-led landscape transformation at the LNER Stadium in Lincoln, created in partnership with Lincoln City Foundation to deliver lasting social, environmental and wellbeing benefits. What was once an inaccessible and overgrown strip of land adjacent to the stadium’s 3G pitch has been reimagined as a vibrant outdoor learning and growing space for community programmes.
Influence provided the initial design vision, helping to shape a multifunctional landscape that supports environmental education, food growing, biodiversity and access to nature. The design incorporates accessible pathways, planting areas, habitat creation and spaces for informal learning and reflection, creating a welcoming environment that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Delivered through collaboration with local partners, businesses and the Lincolnshire Probation Service Community Payback team, the project demonstrates the power of partnership-led placemaking. Poacher’s Patch now supports a range of Lincoln City Foundation programmes, from holiday activities and environmental learning to mental health and wellbeing initiatives, while fostering stronger connections between people, food, nature and community.
